BEVERLY, MA (August 17, 1999) Ð A classic 3-D word game is gaining new dimensions this summer as Hasbro Interactive and Microsoft team up to offer MSN.COM users a free, full-version of the Em@il Games Upwords¨ game. With the simple click of the mouse, MSN.COM users can play the classic game, via e-mail, with friends and family around the world! This free offer is available now through September 3, 1999.
Em@il Games Upwords¨ can also be downloaded from Hasbro InteractiveÕs e-mail games web site (www.emailgames.com). The game, a $15 value, is only available online. Em@il Games Upwords¨ can be enjoyed by up to four players at a time.
Upwords¨ is a classic 3-D word game where players stack letters higher and higher to build layers of crosswords for the most points. Game play is easy. Player one forms a word (example: game). Player two can either make their own word, using letters already on the board; or by stacking a letter on top of another to form a whole new word (example: placing a Ôf Õ on top of the ÔgÕ in game would create the word fame).
The e-mail version of the game is as simple as sending regular e-mail messages. After each turn, players can write a note and send their move to their opponents simply by entering their e-mail addresses. The next player makes a move and sends it back.
Hasbro Interactive brought fun to a new level earlier this year by combining the two most popular on-line activities, e-mail and gaming. Following the success of itÕs first three Em@il Games titles, Scrabble¨, Battleship¨, and Grandmaster Chess, the company plans to introduce several more games this year, including Em@il Games NASCAR, Em@il Games NFL Football, Em@il Games Clue, Em@il Games Risk and an e-mail version of the MicroProse CD-ROM game, X-Com¨.
